Weekend Recap: Fall Barn Show + Celebrating Armando + Full Gallop Schooling Show

🥇 What a day! Our Fall Barn Show was filled with great rides, big smiles, and plenty of cheering from the sidelines. Twenty-four riders showed across nine divisions, with many stepping into the show arena for the very first time.  Not even a surprise afternoon storm could dampen the spirit of the day! A special thank you goes to Shanna Early for serving as our dressage judge and helping make the event such a positive experience for everyone.

🎉 On top of the show excitement, we had the joy of celebrating Armando! We surprised he and his family with a dual celebration: his two-year anniversary with GWIF and the exciting news of his U.S. Permanent Residency approval. Our barn family came together with a yummy lunch, festive decorations, and generous gifts to show just how much we appreciate his work.

💪 The fun didn’t even stop there! After awarding ribbons Saturday afternoon, Halliea and five of our riders packed up and hauled out to Full Gallop Farm for a schooling show. In true #GWIFGrows style, each horse and rider pair completed their XC phase with zero jump penalties - an impressive stat given that three of the five riders were debuting with a new equine partner!

• THIS WEEKEND: September 11th-14th - USEA The Fork at Tryon - Open to leasing/boarding clients with trainer permission. Divisions offered: BN-A; CCI1-4*. Closing Date: Expired

• THIS WEEKEND: September 13th-14th - Bouckaert Farm Schooling Show - Open to all students with trainer permission. We will haul on Saturday and compete on Sunday. Closing date: Expired

• September 26th-28th - USEA Stable View Oktoberfest - Open to leasing/boarding clients with trainer permission. Divisions offered: BN-A; CCI1-4*. Closing Date: Expired

• October 4th - Make Up Lessons for Huntcliff Campus - If you ride at our Huntcliff Campus and missed a lesson in September, this is your opportunity to make it up!

• October 5th - XC Schooling - Available to all students capable of jumping 18” course. Location and departure time will be communicated the day before. Please plan on an all day adventure - pack water, drinks, snacks, sunscreen, rain gear, etc. Adult supervision and transportation required.

• October 10th - 12th - USEA Poplar Place - Open to leasing/boarding clients with trainer permission. Divisions offered: Intro - Prelim. Closing Date: 9/23

• October 18th - Make Up Lessons for Huntcliff Campus - If you ride at our Huntcliff Campus and missed a lesson in October, this is your opportunity to make it up!

Weekly Barn Tip: Avoid a Pasture Disaster

You’ve had an awesome ride, your horse is untacked, and their care is complete.  What’s next - stall or turnout? The answer is almost always just a quick check away on two of our barn information boards.

Start with the lesson board: Is your horse scheduled for a later lesson or bodywork? If so, leave them in their stall. If not, they’re ready to head outside for some well-deserved downtime. When in doubt, always ask!

Before turning out, don’t forget to check the pasture board (pictured above). Even if you think you know where your favorite pony lives, assignments can shift. A quick glance helps keep everyone safe and in the right pasture.

Rider of the Week: Sienna Bethel

Sienna joined the GWIF family in January 2021 and has been a positive presence in the barn ever since. Her current favorite lesson horse is the timeless Scarlett, and together they’ve made some wonderful recent memories - cruising around the gallop track in July and tackling cross-country schooling at Bouckaert Farm in August.

Looking ahead, Sienna’s riding goals include building confidence over higher fences and continuing to join friends at fun off-property adventures.

Sienna was nominated for Rider of the Week by Halliea, who shared that Sienna always approaches her lessons with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. She is a highly coachable rider, attentively taking feedback and applying it. In a lesson environment, these qualities are invaluable, benefiting both her trainers and the ongoing growth of her riding skills.
