🏆 Weekend Recap: Mt. Vernon IEA Regular Season Finale at Chickopee Woods 🏆

The Mustangs closed out the 2025–2026 regular season with ANOTHER double header at Chicopee Woods, leaving it all in the ring. Long days, tired legs, and big teamwork energy were the name of the game.

Weekly Barn Tip: Brush Up on Bonding

The best partnerships begin before you pick up the reins.

Grooming is about much more than getting the dust off before a ride — it’s one of the simplest and most powerful ways we build trust with our horses. Pick their feet fully, brush thoughtfully, and notice how your horse responds.  Intentionality turns this routine task into real connection, not just something to check off the list before a lesson (though we do require it!). The quiet moments help your horse relax, feel cared for, and learn that being with you is a good place to be.

🎉 Rider of the Week: Kay Woodall 🎉

Kay is a third-generation horsewoman who has quite literally been riding since before she was born. She has been part of the GWIF family since 2022, and while Kory is her “bestest GWIF boy,” Kay has also explored several disciplines with her Mustang pony, Sally, including Western Dressage, Working Equitation, and Competitive Trail Riding.

Now in her second year on the Mt. Vernon IEA team, Kay has moved up a level in competition and continues to prove she is a true force in the ring. Halliea and Lauren nominated Kay for her grit and determination during this past weekend’s regular season finale. Despite being miserably ill, Kay powered through the double-header and secured her qualification for regional-level competition.
