Weekend Recap: Mount Vernon IEA Show

On Saturday, the Mount Vernon IEA Team headed to Chicopee Woods Ag Center in Gainesville, Georgia, for a show hosted by Break Away Farm.  Our riders turned in strong performances and the incomparable Steve stole the spotlight once again as Horse of the Day! 

The team is looking forward to their next outing in mid-November.  Go Mustangs!

GWIF Goes: The Near Future

• November 1st - HALLOWEEN FUNDRAISER - Join us for our spooktacular Halloween event and fundraiser benefitting Huntcliff Stables Foundation! This event is perfect for ALL levels of riders and their families! See flyer below for more details and mark your calendar.

• November 8th - Make Up Lessons for Huntcliff Campus - If you ride at our Huntcliff Campus and missed a lesson in November, this is your opportunity to make it up!

• November 9th - XC Schooling - Available to all students capable of jumping 18” course. Location and departure time will be communicated the day before. Please plan on an all day adventure - pack water, drinks, snacks, sunscreen, rain gear, etc. Adult supervision and transportation required.

• November 21st - 22nd - Poplar Place Farm Schooling Show - Open to all students with trainer permission. We will haul out on Friday and compete on Saturday. Closing Date: TBD (Not yet open for entries)

• November 24th - 30th - SCHEDULED BARN CLOSURE - Regularly scheduled barn closures are part of our normal tuition program. Makeup lessons are not scheduled for lessons missed during barn closures.

• November 28th - 29th - USEA Pine Top Eventing - Open to leasing/boarding clients with trainer permission. Divisons Offered: Starter - Prelim; Closing Date: 11/11

Weekly Barn Tip: Winter is Coming

Newest equine fashion trend for Winter?  Sloth pajamas!

As cooler weather rolls in, it will soon be time to start thinking about blankets! Each day can bring different needs when it comes to staying warm, so it’s important to pay close attention to your trainer’s instructions after every ride. Whether your horse needs a blanket, sheet, or no cover at all depends on various factors - overnight temperatures, the length of their coat, or even how sweaty they got during your lesson. Before turning out, check which layer your trainer recommends and plan for the extra time it takes to help your horse remain comfortable and healthy.

Rider of the Week: Fiona Fenili

Fiona has been riding consistently since the spring of 2021 and currently trains in group lessons with Wren. She loves spending time with her barn friends and counts Salem, Legend, and Cashew among her favorite lesson partners.

One of her favorite GWIF memories is last year’s Halloween Fundraiser, when she got to spend the night at the barn with friends! Fiona’s current riding goals include sharpening her jumping skills and joining in on more cross-country adventures.

Wren nominated Fiona for her steady effort and positive attitude while working with both Salem and Legend in lessons. Her upbeat energy sets the tone for her group’s lesson and simply makes them that much more fun!
