Weekend Recap: USEA Poplar Place Farm

This past weekend, ten (yes, ten!) GWIF horses and riders traveled to Hamilton, GA for Poplar Place Farm’s October Horse Trials—and what a weekend it was! Three of our Starter riders made their debut at a USEA-recognized show, and they all rose to the occasion with performances to be proud of.

When stadium rounds were complete on Sunday, GWIF riders had earned top-five finishes in every division that was entered, including an incredible four first-place wins! We call that #GWIFGoes and #GWIFGrows!

GWIF Goes: The Near Future

October 18th - Make Up Lessons for Huntcliff Campus - If you ride at our Huntcliff Campus and missed a lesson in October, this is your opportunity to make it up!
October 19th - XC Schooling - Available to all students capable of jumping 18” course. Location and departure time will be communicated the day before. Please plan on an all day adventure - pack water, drinks, snacks, sunscreen, rain gear, etc. Adult supervision and transportation required.
October 23rd - 26th - USEA Wardeca Classic Three Day - Open to leasing/boarding clients with trainer permission. Divisions offered: BN-M Long, P. Closing Date: Expired
November 1st - HALLOWEEN FUNDRAISER - Join us for our spooktacular Halloween event and fundraiser benefitting Huntcliff Stables Foundation! This event is perfect for ALL levels of riders and their families! See flyer below for more details and mark your calendar.

Weekly Barn Tip: Coil It Up!

After you finish filling water buckets or rinsing off your horse, don’t forget the final step - coil that hose! Leaving it stretched across the barn aisle or tangled in a muddy puddle isn’t just messy - it’s a tripping hazard waiting to happen and a fast track to a broken hose.

Taking a few extra seconds to loop it up neatly keeps the barn looking sharp, prevents cracks and leaks, and saves your fellow riders from playing unintended jump rope with it later.

Rider of the Week: Briella Foley

Briella began riding in May 2024 at just five years old, after a family vacation to Puerto Rico sparked her love for horses! During that trip, she went on her very first trail ride and was instantly hooked—calling it the “best day ever” and asking for lessons as soon as she got home.

Since then, Briella has become a dedicated young equestrian, and Marty has quickly become her favorite lesson pony. She especially enjoys cantering and trail rides, and she’s eagerly looking forward to learning how to jump!

Briella’s trainer, Jake, shared how much he appreciates her amazing attitude and enthusiasm each and every time she’s at the barn. Briella always gives her best effort, listens carefully, and loves learning more about horses—both in and out of the saddle. Jake is excited to see her confidence and love for riding grow each week!
