Devon began riding with GWIF in 2018 at the age of 10. She took Buck to her very first three-phase while Liam was in training with Meg. Meg nominated Devon for her long term approach to relationships with her horses and her insistence that they receive the very best care. She has evolved into a well-rounded horsewoman that GWIF trainers would (and do!) trust to care for their own horses. As a GWIF instructor, Devon was patient and optimistic. You could always tell which students started with Devon as their first trainer. They are very kind to the horses they, have a “can do” attitude, and demonstrate great basic skills. This is no coincidence as Devon models the behavior she expects from her students. This month, Devon will be moving to Lexington to study finance at the University of Kentucky. She has joined UK Eventing and is very excited to ride with their team. Devon plans to continue Grace’s training with the goals of competing together at AECs and IEL Championships. Liam will remain in Athens enjoying retired life on their family’s farm. Devon has been a role model for many GWIF riders over the years. We are excited to see where her riding journey leads her next!
